HIKING ON THE CARLOMAN HILL (TO THE BISTRIȚA MONASTERY) DIRECTIONS AND ORIENTATION: And this nature hike, like the other tourist routes marked in the application, has its starting point at the Royal Court, the heart of our city. Those who want to shorten it a little, can take their personal car to the end of Bogdan Vodă Street, right at the base of Cârloman Hill. If you walk, you will be able to admire the historic houses on Ștefan cel Mare street, but you will also pass by the Forestry Technical College and the "Ceahlăul" Piatra-Neamț Stadium. The route markings start as soon as you reach the coast and continue towards Bobeica Peak (677 m). Go further towards Drângu Meadow, then climb up to Prihodiștea Peak (807 m). From here, downhill, it is half an hour to the Bistrița Monastery. The overall level of difficulty is medium, with a few more difficult sections, so appropriate clothing and footwear are strongly recommended. Tourists who do not dare to complete the route can choose to go only as far as Drângu Meadow, after which they can return on the same road or choose another descent route. OTHER DETAILS: At the beginning of the route, on a wide open plateau on Cârloman, you can admire the town of Piatra-Neamţ from a new perspective, with the Pietricica, Cozla and Cernegura hills, but also the Bâtca Doamnei lake and hill. Near Drângu Meadow you can also see part of Gârcina village, and in an opening in the path you can even distinguish the Ceahlău Massif in the distance, with Butu and Ana's Tower, Ocolaşul Mic, Dacian Table, Ocolaşul Mare and Lespezi Peak. On most of the route, the paths cross the dense and little-traveled forest. But the landscapes offered by the few meadows reward the road-weary traveler. HIKING ON THE CERNEGURA HILL (TO THE BAHRIN HERMITAGE) DIRECTIONS AND ORIENTATION: And this nature hike, like the other tourist routes marked in the application, has its starting point at the Royal Court, the heart of our city. Those who want to shorten it a little, can take their personal car to Căprioara Bridge. From the Căprioara Restaurant, you go up a winding path through the forest to Borsanca Meadow, a place frequented by locals in the summer for "traditional barbecues". From here, the path climbs steeper through the forest, suitable mountain shoes being mandatory. In some places, the route intersects with the forest road that starts near the entrance to the Tineretului beach. It should also be mentioned that the route is not marked, but it is easy to find. So even so, you can't really get lost! The path is trodden by hundreds of tourists, lovers of hiking, who come year after year and enjoy the peace and charm of the forest. Once you reach the top of Cernegura (821 m), the path will direct your steps towards the crest of the hill, to a viewpoint of magical beauty. Here is a rest stop where you can rest and admire the mountain peaks in the area. From the top, if you want to continue to the hermitage, it's only a few minutes' walk. OTHER DETAILS: The Cernegura hill guards the southwestern part of the city of Piatra-Neamț, being covered with the most dense and varied vegetation so that the road to the top is a real challenge. At the beginning of the route, you will be greeted by deciduous forests where you will find specimens of beech, birch, hornbeam, oak, cherry, apple and poplar, after which you will enter coniferous forests consisting of fir, spruce and pine species. Along with these you will find shrubs such as rosehip, horn and hazel, but also numerous species of grasses, flowers and plants characteristic of the steppe. LOGISTICS DETAILS: - Route under homologation and marked with the blue triangle (details). - Difficulty: medium. - Level difference: approximately 500-600m. - Total length of the route: 6-7 km (one way only). HIKING ON THE COZLA HILL ("TREI CĂLDĂRI" TRAIL) DIRECTIONS AND ORIENTATION: And this nature hike, like the other tourist routes marked in the application, has its starting point at the Royal Court, the heart of our city. It is good to know, however, for those interested in this, that the first part of the route can be avoided by taking the cable car. In this situation, the route will start right from the gondola's arrival point. In its vicinity is the "Three Hills" peak, with an altitude of 657 m. The view from here is impressive! You will then continue, in a northerly direction, to the top of  "Trei Căldări" (679 m). The distance between the two peaks is only 2.5 km, which can be covered in about half an hour. Taking into account the small difference in altitude, the walk will be extremely easy and relaxing. The advantage of this route is that it can be traveled by almost anyone, in any season. A short extension that you can consider after reaching Trei Căldări is to go down to the Draga Hermitage (the "Buna Vestire" wooden church). It is one of the oldest religious places in the city. IMPORTANT: Even though we included them in the route, it is good to know that the "Nicu Albu" Public Garden and the "Cozla" viewpoint are new projects initiated by the current management of the Piatra-Neamț City Hall, currently being under construction. And Cozla Park street, which connects Ștefan cel Mare street and the top of Cozla hill, is being modernized, being converted into an exclusively pedestrian alley. However, access to the Outlaw Huts and to the Circle of Housewives was not completely stopped. OTHER DETAILS: On Cozla, but also on the other hills surrounding the city, the first Oligocene fossil fishes were discovered in Romania in the years 1883-1885. Thus, the study of fossil fish here begins almost simultaneously with similar research in Western Europe. In the rock layers made up of marl and sandstone conglomerates, fossil deposits of fish, with various species, have been discovered. Their presence is due to the existence here 35 million years ago of the Paratethys sea, in which fish and shells characteristic of subtropical areas lived. It is good to know that the discovered fossils can be seen at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Piatra-Neamț, which still holds the most valuable Oligocene fish collection in the country and one of the richest in Europe.   LOGISTICS DETAILS: - Homologated route and marked with a blue stripe. - Difficulty: very easy. - Total difference in level: 300 m. - Total length of the route: 6.5 km (one way only). - Estimated travel time: 3 hours (one way only).   Photo credit and additional information: www.bloguldecalatorii.ro/2021/09/traseul-3-caldari.html
