PREAMBLE: All itineraries by car through Neamț county promoted in our application start from the heart of the city (The Royal Court). Regardless of whether they are drawn circularly or linearly, they return to Piatra-Neamț, the details of distances and time being presented below. Some of the attractions are visitable, while others that are on the route can simply be admired either from the distance or by making short detours from the main route. Feel free to decide! But it's good to know that all tourist attractions tell their own story, which is also the reason why we included in the itinerary places more or less known to the general public.
DIRECTIONS AND ORIENTATION: This touristic route starts towards the direction of Girov commune, and next to the Octano gas station you will turn left. In the center of the village of Ștefan cel Mare are the ruins of the Şerbești Inn (which is in the process of restoration), and at the exit of the village, in the east direction, you will find the mysterious and spectacular Şerbești rock. The detour is definitely worth it and additionally you can also do some exercise. In the neighboring village of Cârligi you will find the "Three Hierarchs" church, built in 1827. The next stop is the Războieni Monastery, one of the most representative monasteries in Moldova built by Stephen the Great, a #mustsee of this itinerary. At the northern exit of Tupilați village, the ruins of the Catargi Mansion await you, a negative example of how to manage a historically valuable place. Then, we recommend you make a detour of 7 km to the town of Văleni, where you will also find a positive example of the enhancement of an old mansion. The Styrcea mansion is no longer open to the general public, but it is really worth admiring it from the outside due to its architectural simplicity and natural setting. You will then return to Tupilați, turn right, cross the bridge over the Moldova River, after which you will reach the Ancuței Inn, probably the most famous inn in all of Romania. Allocate as much time as you can to this place - to dine, to visit the cellar, to see the rooms of the inn and to enjoy the terrace of the place. On the way back, if your batteries still hold, visit the folk museum "Nicolae Popa" in Târpești, impressive thanks to the personal collection of a local who loves tradition. From here you will continue west to Săcălăușești, and then south to Bălțateși, then back to Piatra-Neamț.
DISTANCE AND TIME: 140 km in total (circular route) / 2 h 30 min actual drive, approximately 8-9 h with visits, breaks and possibly lunch.
EAT & DRINK: There are various locations along the route where you can eat and drink and you can find them with a simple search on Google Maps, but we recommend that you organize your time in such a way as to have lunch at the Ancuței Inn. The experience of this day will be a complete one.
